2025 OTHER PERFORMANCES, ACTIVITIES & DETAILS

 

KIDS' TALENT SHOW

 

Since August, The Couch has been hosting kids talent shows every Sunday at 11:30 AM at Coyote Park.  Unsurprisingly, kids are surprisingly talented :) .  We have seen amazing, dancers, singers, poets, gymnasts, comics and more. COUCHELLA 2025 will start off with 1 hour of Talent Show performance from 1 PM - 2PM.  Each participant is welcome to perform for up to 5 minutes.   With 1 minute transition in between each performer, we can accommodate  up to 10 participants. A small donation will be required to participate, so please be prepared to either donate personally, or collect from other event attendees to support your entry.

 

DANCELYMPICS 

 

Teaser for the newest Concrete Couch program,  funded by COLORADO SPRINGS HEALTH FOUNDATION.  With the goal of creating sustainable health habits, involving prolonged heart-rate-elevating activity, Concrete Couch is proud to announce DANCELYMPICS.  Keep an eye out for the 40 upcoming dates throughout 2025 and 2026 at CONCRETECOUCH.ORG/CALENDAR.  All are welcome to participate at COUCHELLA and ALWAYS!  Racing bibs are available for a small donation. And prizes will be awarded to acknowledge various types of participation, during EACH MUSICAL PERFORMANCE, starting with DYNADOR!  Categories include:  ENDURANCE > ORIGINALITY > SPECIFIC STYLES & MOVES AS ANNOUNCED.   HINT...practice up on your NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE, THE LMFAO SHUFFLE, MOONWALK, OPPA GANGAM STYLE, 

 

LANTERN MAKING and PARADE

 

This staple, recurring art and performance project of Concrete Couch involves using twigs, glue, tissue paper, up-cycled containers, and whatever else to make glowy, lanterny goodness come to life.  Kids and adults are welcome to build and disco-march.  Since sunset is scheduled to occur at around 6:15PM on this date, the LANTERN PARADE will start at roughly 7PM after ROMA RANSOM and before PATCHWORK JACK, participants will gather with their made lanterns, and once the first song is over, a guided march will begin to wind around the perimeter of the festival culminating in a lantern dance at the front of the stage.

T-SHIRTS and OTHER MERCH.  Concrete Couch as well as many of our performers will have T-shirts, books, albums, stickers, etc. available at our merch tent.  We’ll be accepting cash, card, venmo, and check, or the corresponding number of carnival tickets.

 

SILENT AUCTION AND RAFFLE

 

We have been talking to all of our favorite businesses and artisans over the past months and collecting a...COLLECTION... of the region's most exciting goods and services, vis-a-vis their GENEROUS DONATIONS to support our RAFFLE and SILENT AUCTION.   Raffle tickets will be the same price as all the other tickets... $5.  We will have drawings at each musical set change, so ENTER EARLY AND OFTEN, to ensure you MAXIMIZE YOUR ODDS!!!!  Silent Auction table will require bids, top bidder at the end of the event will be the winner!   Interesting prizes that wer know of so far are 1 ROOM FROM KINSHIP LANDING, a dope bike from WHEEL GOOD BMX, and a PLANT COMMUNION FRAGRANCE from ROOTFOOT.COM (Natural Fragrances by Laura Huth).  More to come! 

 

DISC GOLF TOURNEY -- 

 

Sponsored by ______________ ((Can't say yet)).  Did you know that there's a 9 hole Disc Golf Course on Concrete Coyote Community Park?  Well, yep...there is!  And at COUCHELLA on 10/18/2025, we're going to put you through it.  It's a challenging course, so we recommend that you come hydrated and properly stretched.  It's important to never understimate the importance of proper stretching in and hydration!   Fee to enter is  two tickets aka $10.   Winner gets a prize....even if it's just a backrub from incoming Concrete Couch Executive Director, Dustin Huth.  Could be something cooler though.  Potential sponsors email giving@concretecouch.org

 

WAIT.....THIS SOUNDS AWESOME AND ALL,  BUT WHAT IS THIS CONCRETE COUCH THING THAT WE'RE RAISING MONEY FOR?  

 

Good question!  In short, Concrete Couch's mission is to build community through Creative Projects.  In practice that means we are installing public art sculptures and murals on any surface that will hold still long enough to let us slap some mosaic tiles on it.  And when I say us, I mean you.  Because YOU -put the YOUNITY in COMM-YOU-NITY.  Is that too much?  Probably.  Suffice to say, every project we do, is in collaboration with our community on some level.  We are here to teach skills, and get people working together.  Would it be easier to just go off and build stuff on our own, with our fleet of highly skilled artists?  Of course.  But for us, the most beautiful part of the art is not the art itself, but the moments and the friendships created as a result of the collaborative process of building art together.
